DT155 Heart Rate

Type:
Heart rate

Range:
0-5V

Sensor Description:

The sensor monitors a person's heart rate. Note: As this sensor consumes a lot of power, it is recommended that, if connected to a MultiLog or Multilog Pro, the AC/DC adapter be attached.

How it works:

Unlike an electrocardiograph (EKG), which monitors the electrical signal of the heart, this sensor monitors the flow of blood through the veins. Best measurements are done at the ear lobe or on a fingertip. As the heart forces blood through the blood vessels, the amount of blood changes with time.
By graphing this signal, the heart rate can be determined, and some details of the pumping action of the heart can be seen on the graph. A sample graph is shown below.

What is it used for:

NOTE: This product is to be used for educational purposes only. It is not appropriate for medical or research applications. Specifically, it may not be used for patient diagnosis
The DT021 is mainly used for:

Calibration

No need to calibrate the DT021.

Sensitivity adjustment.

Sometimes, especially when in a very lighted environment, the sensor should be adjusted. This can be done by a small jeweler's screwdriver through a hole in the back of the amplifier box.
