The sensor monitors a person's heart rate. Note: As
this sensor consumes a lot of power, it is recommended that, if connected to a
MultiLog or Multilog Pro, the AC/DC adapter be attached.
Unlike an electrocardiograph (EKG), which monitors the electrical signal of
the heart, this sensor monitors the flow of blood through the veins. Best
measurements are done at the ear lobe or on a fingertip. As the heart forces
blood through the blood vessels, the amount of blood changes with time.
By
graphing this signal, the heart rate can be determined, and some details of the
pumping action of the heart can be seen on the graph. A sample graph is shown
below.

Sometimes, especially when in a very lighted environment, the sensor should be adjusted. This can be done by a small jeweler's screwdriver through a hole in the back of the amplifier box.
