DT032
Sensor Sheet
Type: Heat Loss |
Range: ±312 W/m2

Sensor Description:
The DT032 heat loss sensor is used for measurements
of changes in gain or loss of heat from various surfaces. It consists of a 150cm
wire with a connector at one end and a heat loss sensing plate at the other end.
The sensing plate is attached to the desired surface, and provides readings on
its heat loss data.
How it works:
The Heat Loss sensing plate at the end of the DT032 is
built out of two individual temperature sensors separated by an isolating
material. When attached to a surface, the difference between the two temperature
sensors provides the value and direction of heat loss on the surface. The sensor
receives an input of 5V and outputs a voltage of 0-5V according to the
temperature difference between the two sensors. This voltage is then transferred
to the analog-digital converter in the Data-Logger. The converter translates the
received voltage into a heat loss unit (Watt/m2) and reads the correct result
out.
Calibration:
The DT032 is automatically calibrated. No further
calibration is needed.
What is it used for:
The DT032 sensor is used in experiments from the field of environmental
science and the study of concepts like light, heat, and energy. Using the DT032
you will be able to study on subjects like the connection between temperature in
a box, and it's color while exposed to sunlight, or the changes in heat loss
& absorption of a house during a 24-hour period.
